Dog owners tend to put down their pets with health conditions or physical defects. But, some of them are still given an extraordinary second chance in life. One blind and deaf Great Dane was saved from the “death row” and gained a new family along the way. He also won a best friend for life!
The dog featured in this story was born deaf and with limited sight. This Great Dane was about to be euthanized by his previous owner had it not for Marion Dwyer, who saved him. Marion and her family took home the twelve-week-old puppy and decided to adopt him officially. They named the neglected puppy Echo.
Echo grew up to be a sweet and gentle family dog. The whole family adored him! Little did they know, Echo’s most loved family member is yet to arrive. Marion and her husband became pregnant, and the whole family observed how Echo paid a lot of attention to the baby inside Marion’s belly.
Finally, the newest family member was born – an adorable raven-haired baby girl named Jennie. Echo was instantly smitten! Marion and her husband watched how Echo looked after their daughter – it is as if the Great Dane knew that he gained a friend for life!
The two were inseparable since then – doing everything together. Jennie loves giving Echo dibs of her food! She also loves snuggling and playing with the gentle giant. According to Marion, Jennie and Echo love going on walks – with Jennie always leading. She insists on holding the leash every time they are out. Echo also does his best to protect Jennie when they’re outside.
It is magical to think that a blind and deaf dog and a baby girl are best of friends – despite their limited language or speech, they still communicate in ways Marion and the family could not understand. Jennie and Echo remain the best of friends – a beautiful relationship that proves how second chances cascade to unique possibilities!
