Fargo Brewing Company in Fargo, North Dakota are helping dogs up for adoption. Their efforts include featuring these dogs on their beer cans to bring awareness. There are some dogs who are having a harder time finding their forever homes. To further help these dogs, Fargo teamed with 4 Luv of Dog Rescue to bring more attention to these dogs. They call these special pups One-der dogs.
With all the available rescue dogs, shelters are starting to reach full capacity. The supply exceeds the demand at some facilities. Because of this, some shelters go to extremes to help pets be adopted. Some go as far as to waiving adoption fees for the fact they simply can’t hold anymore dogs.
Jerad Ryan is a volunteer at the 4 Luv of Dog Rescue organization. Of his four years or work with the group, the One-der dogs have touched him differently. He fostered one of the dogs, Bizzy, directly. Bizzy inspired Ryan to think of a way to advertise for these less fortunate dogs in her situation.
Ryan’s idea to feature dogs on beer cans came from his job at Northern Plains Label, who prints labels for breweries. The brewery and the rescue group hosted an event this past Monday, promoting the first batch of pups. The push is a six-pack of Fargo Original Lager for $9 with six different pups featured on the labels. Each purchaser was then able to meet one of the featured One-der dogs.
A portion of the proceeds, along with any unsold beers, went to the rescue group. The partnership hopes to help these dogs, once overlooked, receive attention and a greater chance of being adopted. With the positive response this program has received locally, the future for the One-der dogs seems bright.
