Pit Bulls are victims of negative labels, often referred to as an aggressive and vicious dog breed. This prejudice against these amazing dogs exists because of cruel Pit Bull owners who abuse their pets. Some deliberately train them for dogfighting rings and other vicious animal circles.
Pit Bulls are just like any other breeds. They are also sweet and kind if treated. One dog fights to change people’s perception of her breed. Once abused and neglected by her previous owner, this dog proves that second chances make a lot of differences.
As a puppy, Kiah suffered a life of neglect. Aside from the fact that her owner completely ignored her, not giving her food or water, her owner chained her outside in the deep snow. She could have died from the cold – if it weren’t for a kind police officer who could no longer bear seeing the poor dog stuck in her chains.
The police officer took her under his wing and found a way to rehabilitate the poor, traumatized puppy. He sent her to train to become a police dog! Kiah, who was smart and dedicated, passed her training with flying colors! The Pit Bull with a sad past is now officially part of the Poughkeepsie Police Department.
Kiah is fighting stereotypes against her breed by being the first Pit Bull K9 officer in New York State. As a K9 dog, she chases bad guys and helps out her human partners in their missions. According to the officers of the Poughkeepsie Police Department, they are amazed by the discipline and dedication Kiah shows in line with work.
The whole community adores the smart and sweet dog! When she is not on police duty, Kiah works as a breed ambassador – and goes around the neighborhood, educating the public about her breed. Indeed, Kiah has proven a lot in her new life as a K9 officer and breed ambassador. When she’s not fighting criminals, she is fighting prejudice against her fantastic breed!
